Tyler Smith, P.E., is the Portland Branch Manager for BEE Engineers and has nearly two decades of experience in building enclosure consulting, forensic investigations, energy performance, and construction quality assurance. He has worked on hundreds of projects throughout the Pacific Northwest, helping owners, architects, and contractors solve complex water intrusion, durability, and building performance challenges. Tyler is known for translating technical building science concepts into practical solutions that stakeholders can understand and act upon. A licensed Professional Engineer in Oregon and Washington, he regularly presents on building enclosure topics and is passionate about the intersection of technical expertise, communication, and decision-making in the built environment.

Jeffrey Kerr is the Managing Principal of Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH)’s Washington, DC Building Technology practice. He has more than 25 years of building enclosure consulting and construction management experience across a diverse range of new construction, adaptive reuse, and rehabilitation projects. His project experience includes large-scale government office, mixed-use residential, higher education, hospitality, and cultural buildings. Jeff is a registered professional engineer in DC, MD, and VA, and an active member of ASTM C18 Committee on Dimension Stone and Chairs C18.08 Stone Selection.

Emma Mahoney is an Associate Project Consultant in the Building Technology group at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH). She joined SGH in 2024 and has experience in enclosure consulting and design on a variety of project types, including facade investigations, condition assessments, rehabilitation, and new construction. She values the opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of projects and enjoys continuously expanding her knowledge through collaboration with colleagues, engagement with industry professionals, and field experience on project sites.

Dave Young brings more than 35 years of building enclosure consulting experience across residential, commercial, institutional, and mission critical projects throughout Canada and the United States. Before establishing RDH’s Portland office, he spent five years in RDH’s Vancouver, BC office during the height of the “Leaky Condo Crisis,” focusing on multifamily enclosure failure investigation and rehabilitation. That experience shaped his practical approach to rainscreen design, moisture management, and durability. Dave is known for his thoughtful, technically grounded approach to complex enclosure challenges. Notable projects include the Multnomah County Central Courthouse, Block 216, and the PDX TCORE Redevelopment. He is a Principal at RDH and Past President of the Portland BEC.

As a forensic architect registered in several states, Corey Zussman has practiced in the construction industry for more than 30 years. He specializes in the building envelope, restoration, preservation, life safety, and interior finishes. While working on over 2000 projects, Corey conducts constructability reviews, pre-installation meetings, comprehensive envelope meetings, and construction observations. He has also become known for providing educational opportunities throughout the industry and has produced more than 200 “lessons learned” papers. Topics include building envelope and life safety concerns, enabling Corey to proactively address issues during design review, pre-construction, and construction.
