Board Members
The organization is led by a Board of Directors, which consists of nine individuals with broad experience in the rainscreen industry. The Executive Committee – made up of five individuals – works closely with the Board to guide committees.
Todd Kimmel
Todd Kimmel is the US Senior Manager of Sustainable Solutions, ROCKWOOL North America. He has over 20 years of experience working on façade systems and the building enclosure, having held technical leadership positions for multiple key product manufacturers. He is also a Certified Passive House Designer and current board member of NY Passive House.
Steve Gaynor
Steven Gaynor is the managing director of Pivoth Corp, providing consulting services for building product manufacturers looking to enter or grow within the U.S. market. He comes to RAiNA with 17 years of industry experience spanning project management with contractors, and directing programs with various rainscreen manufacturers.
Eric Sassak
Eric Sassak is a Senior Project Architect in SmithGroup’s Building Technology Studio and is heavily involved in the design and development of contract documents for complex projects. His focus is on exterior enclosure detailing. Eric has developed areas of specialization in coatings, architectural metals, steep slope roofs, and rainscreen assemblies.
Gabriel Castillo
With vast experience in construction, Castillo passionately combines design principles and ingenuity to support design professionals and contractors. He is an architect and engineer that looks for aesthetics and buildable solutions. Castillo has been involved in the design, engineering, and installation of rainscreen façades for decades. He believes professional collaboration produces valuable results.
Kevin Nolan
Kevin D. Nolan has over 35 years of experience in the construction industry as a Carpenter/Superintendent, a General Contractor, and a Forensic Architectural Consultant. He has dealt almost exclusively with the building enclosures for 25 of those years, repairing, re-cladding, and diagnosing failed systems. Currently, he serves as the Technical Director for VaproShield LLC, an innovative manufacturing company of water resistive barriers and air barrier materials, designed for rainscreen applications.
Philip Frederick
Philip Frederick is a Senior Project Manager in the Building Technology group at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. Mr. Frederick’s primary experience focuses on building envelope projects and enclosure systems, including forensic investigation, developing enclosure rehabilitation designs, and providing enclosure design consulting and peer reviews for new construction projects.
Kellie Knuff Perkins
Kellie Knuff Perkins is the US Sales Manager at EQUITONE. She has spent over 15 years working for building manufacturers that mainly specialize in rainscreen applications. Kellie began her career in design and construction, working at architectural firms as the Business Development Manager.
Andrew Ashton
Andrew Ashton is Business Development Manager in New York City for CENTRIA, a Nucor Company. He brings 12 years of industry experience with expertise in rainscreen cladding and enclosure design. Andrew began his work with RAiNA serving as the Definitions Committee Co-Chair.
Brian Nelson
With 16 years of experience, Brian began his career in Portland, Oregon, after earning dual Bachelor degrees in engineering from Oregon State University. During 14 years at Knight, he’s excelled in product management and business development, securing multiple patents. Brian co-chairs RAiNA’s Codes Committee, leveraging his engineering and construction expertise. He consistently collaborates with project teams, providing solutions to complex challenges.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee acts as the steering committee for the RAiNA Board of Directors (BoD). They kick-start leadership’s strategic planning, lead key initiatives for the association (including the RAiNA 2030 vision), and prioritize the critical issues for the full BoD to address.

Marcus Jablonka, Treasurer
Marcus Jablonka is VP of Operations and Marketing at Dörken Systems. With degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration, he joined Dörken in 1999, and has 20+ years of expertise in drainage, waterproofing, air barriers, and rainscreen systems. He has authored numerous papers on applied research related to building products.
